Woodley Memorial Gate

We worked with Woodley Town Council to design and manufacture a commemorative gate, celebrating those who lost their lives in service. The first part as show in the photograph below was to honour the servicemen in the First World War. In 2018 we updated the gate to include some additional detailing - including a rifle, crucifix and barbed wire.

The Process

eNQUIRY/THe BRIEF

We were approached by Kevin Murray from Woodley Town Council and tasked to create a gate for Woodford Park. They wanted something a little different than regular ironwork so we designed the poppy gate.

Manufacture

We created the framework of the gate and then worked alongside members of Woodley Town Council to position poppies, wheat and toadstool detailing on the gate.

DETAILING

The park where this gate is situated contains a war memorial. The gate featured several handmade painted poppies to commemorate those who lost their lives in service to their country.

INSTALLATION

Creation in the workshop and a planned quick installation over the course of a day ensured minimal disruption to Woodford Park.
