Leander Club - Memorial Gate

We worked with the Leander Rowing Club in Henley to create a set of memorial gates incorporating the Leander Coat of Arms and oar motifs.

The Process

eNQUIRY/THe BRIEF

Leander Rowing Club in Henley is regarded as one of the best in the world.

We were commissioned to design and manufacture a memorial gate, a fire-escape and decorative hippo flowerboxes.

Manufacture

The gates were fabricated using both traditional forging and modern techniques, then powder coated and painted.

The coat of arms of Leander are featured in the middle of both gates

DETAILING

As well as the main gate, the team also created flowerboxes and railings, with the pink hippo and oars that represent the club featuring prominently.

INSTALLATION

A smooth install, which took just over a day, ensured minimal disruption to the club. The gate was unveiled by Sir Steve Redgrave for Leander’s 200th anniversary celebration.

“It has been well worth it. You have to leave a legacy and the legacy of our bicentenary will be this entrance. The other one was inadequate, it was too narrow and it was badly cracked and now we have another one that will last another 200 years.” - Mr Randall, Club President
