Cast Iron Gate Repair

After a car hit the clients fence, we worked to salvage and repair the gate and completely replace the obliterated cast iron post.

The Process

eNQUIRY/THe BRIEF

Mr Farnsworth approached us with a unique issue - half of his gate was in desperate need of repair after a car hit it at 65mph. One post survived the incident - meaning we had to create a perfect replica to match the existing post.

Manufacture

We created four pattern pieces (matching the four sides of the post). These were then sent off to be cast by a foundry in Yorkshire. They were assembled on site by our team.

DETAILING

On a job of this kind, getting the small details correct is of paramount importance. We worked hard to create an exact match to the existing installation, so that once complete no-one would be aware of a repair.

INSTALLATION

The post upon completion weighed over a tonne, which caused some interesting issues on a domestic job without a crane. The team worked onsite for 3 days to ensure a perfect finish.

Customer was very happy with the speed of the install and the accurate replication of the post.
